Hong Kong Night Markets: Temple Street, Mong Kok and Beyond

Oct 20 2026, 04:38

Hong Kong packs its markets into a few dense Kowloon neighbourhoods, so you can see most of them in a single day. Macau, an hour away by ferry, adds two more stops. This guide links to every listing in our Hong Kong and Macau collection.

Only a couple are true night markets; the rest are daytime or afternoon street markets. Hours differ between sources, so check before you go.

Yau Ma Tei

Mong Kok

Sham Shui Po and Central

Hong Kong Island south

Stanley Market is a seaside souvenir market.

Macau

  • Rua do Cunha Food Street in Taipa Village is a pedestrian lane of pork chop buns, almond cookies and egg tarts.
  • Red Market is a 1936 market hall with fresh produce downstairs and a cooked-food centre upstairs.

Hours were not verified for the two Macau stops, so check before you go. Weekdays are calmer than weekends.

Practical tips

  • Bargaining: expected at Ladies' Market and Temple Street.
  • Transport: Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei and Sham Shui Po are all MTR stops.
  • Cash: small notes help at street stalls. Macau uses patacas, though Hong Kong dollars are widely accepted.
