Dordoi is a huge container market north of Bishkek that serves wholesale buyers heading to Kazakhstan and Russia. It sells second-hand jackets and boots, discounted clothing, camping gear, ceramics, household goods, bulk snacks and imported goods. It is less picturesque than Osh Bazaar but a good place to see how regional trade works, and laghman and fresh bread stalls are found inside.
Tips: Serious wholesalers arrive very early; late morning is still fine for browsing. Write Dordoi in Cyrillic for taxi drivers and pick an entrance and landmark to meet at.
