Malatapay Market is a weekly rural market at Maluay in Zamboanguita, on the eastern side of Negros Island. It is usually held on Wednesdays, and on special occasions or holidays may run on consecutive days. Alongside produce, tools and household wares, livestock is sold, including carabaos, cattle, pigs, goats, horses and fighting cocks, and some locals still barter. Food stalls sell lechon baboy by the kilo, puso, crabs, shellfish soup, tinola, grilled squid and prawns, seaweed salad, mangoes and fresh coconut. The market sits beside the road to the dock where boats leave for Apo Island. Photo is an exhibit board about the market (illustrative).
