Burmese Market (Cox's Bazar)
A market of about 306 shops in Cox's Bazar selling goods from Myanmar, known for pickles and low prices. Photo is illustrative.
The Burmese Market in Cox's Bazar began in 1962, when a Burmese woman set up a pavilion at her house in Tekpara. The original pavilion sold local goods made by Rakhine people, and other shops later opened nearby. Today the market has about 306 shops.
It sells products from Myanmar, with pickles as a specialty, and many items are sold at low prices.
