Hanoi Weekend Market
Hanoi's Old Quarter becomes a pedestrian night bazaar every Friday to Sunday, running from Hang Dao Street towards Dong Xuan Market with street food, souvenirs and clothing.
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, the streets of Hanoi's Old Quarter close to traffic and fill with stalls for the Hanoi Weekend Night Market. The market runs along Hang Dao Street and continues north towards Dong Xuan Market, turning one of the city's busiest districts into a lively pedestrian bazaar.
What to expect
Hundreds of stalls sell budget-friendly clothing, accessories, souvenirs and handicrafts, mixed with food vendors, street performances and plenty of people-watching. The fashion is aimed at the mass market and many souvenirs can be found in nearby shops too, but the atmosphere is the real attraction.
Visitor tips
- The market is open Friday to Sunday only, from early evening (around 6 to 8 PM depending on the season) until roughly 11 PM.
- Haggling is normal; start well below the asking price and stay good-humoured.
- Keep bags zipped and phones out of back pockets in the crowds.
- Getting there: the Old Quarter is easiest on foot; taxis and ride-hailing cars cannot enter the pedestrian zone during market hours.
