A lively one-street Taipei night market beside Ciyou Temple, famous for black pepper buns, herbal pork rib soup and easy-to-walk food stalls.
Raohe Street Night Market is one of Taipei's most popular and easiest-to-navigate night markets. Established as a tourist night market in 1987, it runs along a single pedestrian street in Songshan District, with the ornate Ciyou Temple marking one entrance and Songshan Station close by.
What to expect
Stalls line both sides of the street and the middle, so the route is simple: walk in one end, loop back along the other side. The market is known for its street food, but it also has shops and carts selling everyday items, accessories, toys and folk art.
- The first section, near the eastern entrance, has cart vendors selling daily essentials, toys, traditional artifacts and street food.
- The second section sells physical goods such as flower bouquets, precious stones and folk art.
- The third section is where most of the food stalls are found, with many types of Taiwanese cuisine, drinks and cut fruit.
- A small rest area with seating sits on both sides of the market.
What to eat
Raohe is most famous for its black pepper buns (hujiao bing), baked fresh in a clay oven. Also look for herbal pork rib soup, oyster vermicelli, stinky tofu and duck dishes.
Visitor tips
- Open daily from about 5 PM to midnight; evenings and weekends are busiest.
- Getting there: Songshan Station (Green Line / TRA) is a short walk, and Houshanpi Station (Blue Line) is also close.
