Dihua Street
Taipei's old trading street in Dadaocheng, long known for herbs, fabrics and incense, and for a huge Lunar New Year market.
Dihua Street in Dadaocheng has been a trade centre for Chinese medicinal herbs, fabrics and incense materials, and for post-processing Taiwanese tea. Locals call the stretch north of Minsheng West Road the north street and the southern stretch the south street.
Before Lunar New Year the street fills with shoppers buying festive goods, and holiday sales are an important part of local merchants' income. The rest of the year it is a calmer street of old shopfronts, cafes and small shops.
Getting there: Take the MRT to Beimen or Daqiaotou Station and walk. Hours vary by shop, so check locally.
