A spice shop on Khari Baoli Road in Old Delhi

Khari Baoli is a wholesale market street in Old Delhi, at the western end of Chandni Chowk beside Fatehpuri Masjid. It is described as Asia's largest wholesale spice market, with sacks of spices, nuts, herbs, rice and tea stacked in shopfronts and the Gadodia Market complex, built in the 1920s.

The market has operated since the 17th century and grew up around the mosque, completed in 1650. The name comes from a saline stepwell (baoli) that once stood here but has left no trace.

It is mostly a wholesale trade, so lanes are crowded with porters and carts. Opening hours are not confirmed in the sources I checked; go in the morning and expect many shops to close on Sundays (check locally).
