Liuhe Night Market, Kaohsiung

Liuhe Night Market (Liouhe Tourist Night Market) is the best-known night market in Kaohsiung. It runs along Liuhe 2nd Road in Xinxing District, close to the Formosa Boulevard MRT interchange and its famous light dome.

What to expect

A central lane of food stalls and sit-down restaurants fills the street each evening. The market is compact and easy to walk, and it is firmly on the tourist trail, so prices are a bit higher than at neighbourhood markets.

What to eat

Papaya milk is a Kaohsiung classic. Also look for seafood dishes, oyster omelets, braised pork rice, fruit stands and shaved ice.

Visitor tips

  • Evenings are busiest; go early for easier seating.
  • Getting there: walk from Formosa Boulevard Station (Exit 11).
  • Check prices at seafood restaurants before ordering.
