Manek Chowk Night Market (Ahmedabad)
A vegetable market by morning and a bullion market at noon, Manek Chowk turns into Ahmedabad's old-city street food hub from dusk to midnight.
Manek Chowk sits in the heart of Ahmedabad's old city and changes character through the day: a vegetable hub in the morning, a bullion market at noon and a street food spot at night. From dusk, stalls set up tables and chairs for sweets, fried savoury snacks and paan.
The night market is listed as running every day from dusk to midnight, and a full meal costs under Rs 200. Local favourites named by Gujarat Tourism include Bastiram's rabri kulfi, a chocolate and pineapple pizza from Imtiaz Sheikh's stall and paan from a family recipe dating to 1967. Fafda, a Gujarati fried snack, is also sold.
The chowk is named after Saint Maneknath, an advisor to Emperor Ahmed Shah I.
