Paldalmun Market sits at the foot of Paldalmun, the south gate of Suwon Hwaseong fortress, and is the centre of a cluster of traditional markets in the city. Inside its shopping arcade are a chicken street, a furniture street and a fashion street.
What to expect
A busy covered arcade and surrounding lanes, with street food and many small shops. Suwon is known for its fried chicken, and the Paldalmun area is where that tradition is easiest to sample.
