Raja Bazaar (Rawalpindi)
Rawalpindi's old-city wholesale and retail heart, with specialist lanes and weekend pavement markets.
Raja Bazaar is a commercial hub in the old part of Rawalpindi near Fawara Chowk, where roads including Trunk Bazaar, Liaquat Road, Moti Bazaar, Namak Mandi and Narankari Bazaar meet. It dates from the British colonial era, with historic buildings and narrow streets. Shops sell household groceries, fruit and vegetables, jewellery, clothing, utensils and electronics, and roadside vendors sell used books, bangles and bags. Specialist lanes include Kapra Bazaar (cloth), Lakkar Bazaar (wood), Masala Bazaar (spices), Sarafa Bazaar (gold), Urdu Bazaar (books) and a vegetable market.
Weekend pavement markets called Juma Bazaar crowd the area, and the bazaar draws customers from Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A pedestrian street plan was announced in 2025. Opening hours were not given in my source, so check locally; go in the morning to avoid the worst crowds.
