Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Town is a short street of restaurants near Sindang Station that made its name serving a different style of tteokbokki: rice cakes, noodles and other ingredients cooked at the table in a shallow pot of sauce. It remains a nostalgic favourite for Seoulites.

What to expect

Order a pot to share, then add extras like ramen noodles, dumplings, fried rice or cheese as it simmers. Many places add music or old-school decor. The area has also drawn newer cafes and restaurants.

What to eat

Try the tabletop tteokbokki, then finish with fried rice cooked in the leftover sauce. Related local dishes include baek-sundae-bokkeum (stir-fried sausage).

Visitor tips

  • Hours vary by restaurant, and it is busiest at dinner and on weekends.
