Tamsui Old Street
A riverside street of snack stalls and shops in Tamsui, famous for A-gei, iron eggs and fish crackers, with sunset views over the Tamsui River.
Tamsui Old Street is the long, lively snack street beside the Tamsui River at the northern end of the MRT Red Line. It blends a night market feel with a seaside promenade, and it is busy from afternoon through the evening.
What to expect
Stalls and shops line the street, selling local specialties, souvenirs and carnival-style games. Many visitors walk it at sunset and then continue along the riverfront boardwalk to Fisherman's Wharf.
What to eat
Tamsui is known for A-gei (fried tofu stuffed with glass noodles), iron eggs, fish crackers and fish ball soup, along with grilled seafood and shaved ice.
Visitor tips
- Weekends are crowded; come on a weekday if you prefer space.
