Jayma Bazaar
A sprawling maze of covered rows and open produce heaps in Osh, with an Uzbek-Kyrgyz blend and a Silk Road feel.
Jayma Bazaar is the main market of Osh, a sprawling maze of covered rows and open produce heaps with an Uzbek-Kyrgyz character. Stalls sell spices from the Fergana side, dried fruit, nuts, textiles, ceramics, knives and kitchen steel, Kyrgyz dairy and mountain honey. Grilled meat and street food stalls fill the edges, and the grilled-meat and household stalls near the main roads stay busy into the evening.
Tips: Go early, roughly 8am to 11am, for calmer aisles and fresher produce; midday is crowded and hot in summer. Compare three stalls before buying felt or ceramics, and keep your bag in front in the spice lanes. The bazaar links to Osh's old-town lanes and Sulayman-Too hill, so it pairs easily with sightseeing. Opening hours are not fixed in our sources, so check locally.
