Stalls at the Wajima Morning Market in Ishikawa

The Wajima Morning Market (Wajima Asaichi) is a daily morning market in Wajima, Ishikawa, said to date back over 1,000 years to when locals bartered fish and vegetables during shrine festivals. Before the 2024 earthquake it ran from 8 am to noon, daily except the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month and the New Year holidays, with fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, dried goods, local crafts and snacks such as egara manju, plus grilling stations where shoppers could cook their purchases on the spot.

The market's streets were burned in the January 2024 Noto earthquake fire. Reports from late 2024 describe temporary shops opening in several municipalities, with regular events planned from spring 2025. Where and when stalls operate now was not verified, so check the current location and days before you go. Coordinates are approximate.
