Yobuko Morning Market (Yobuko Asaichi)
One of Japan's best-known morning markets, a roughly 200 m fishing-port street of fresh seafood, dried squid, vegetables and flowers.
Yobuko Morning Market (呼子の朝市) runs along a street about 200 m long, the Asaichi-dori, in the fishing port of Yobuko in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture. It is open from 7:30am to noon and listed as open year-round, though year-end and New Year, Obon, Golden Week and bad-weather closures can occur. Stalls sell freshly landed seafood, often still in crates, along with dried squid, seasonal vegetables, fruit and cut flowers. Yobuko is known for squid, so dried squid is the classic buy. Come in the morning; by early afternoon the stalls are gone.
