Geylang Serai Market
The heart of Singapore's Malay community: a large wet market with a Malay and Indian-Muslim hawker floor and spice stalls.
Geylang Serai Market is one of the busiest and largest wet markets in Singapore. Fresh produce and the spices and ingredients for Malay cooking, such as cinnamon and nutmeg, are sold on the market floor, while the hawker centre serves Malay and Indian-Muslim dishes.
It gets especially lively in the weeks before Hari Raya, when the nearby Geylang Serai Bazaar runs during Ramadan.
Good to know: Hours differ by stall, so check locally. Mornings are best for the wet market.
